Century Country Club located in Purchase, NY is looking for a driven and eager individual to join the golf course maintenance staff as an Assistant Superintendent. Individuals who are looking to enter the golf industry, transfer their skills or advance their careers are highly encouraged to apply.  Upcoming college graduates are also encouraged to apply.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary: $65,000-$75,000, depending on experience

Initial Priorities of Position:

  • Learn the culture, team, practices and daily operations to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Work alongside mechanic in the winter learning how to grind and set reels, plus general maintenance of equipment ​
  • Develop administrative skills in record keeping and inventory
  • Develop hand watering skills on greens to produce firm, fast greens without compromising the health of the turf.
  • Actively involved in scouting for disease and insects, execution of pesticide and fertilizer calibrations and applications, and the care of spraying equipment upkeep, spray suits, gloves, boots, cleaners, nozzles, etc.

  • Must learn the game of golf so that you are familiar with the rules and begin to understand how a championship golf course should be set up.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Someone who loves the game of golf, enjoys working with their hands and being a part of a team.
  • 1-3 years ideally on a golf course, sports field, landscape or horticulture environment
  • A certificate, associate's or bachelor's degree is preferred, but will make an exception to highly passionate candidate with a career focus.

About Us

Century Country Club is a H.S. Colt and C.H. Allison course that was built in 1924. At Century, we strive to be second to none in turf conditions and playing conditions for the membership. Achieving these conditions requires a commitment from the individual in the AIT position. There will be responsibilities put on your shoulders to test your decision-making skills, turf knowledge, human relations and if you are assistant superintendent material. Century has a reputation for producing an excellent product for our membership, promoting from within and teaching young turf professionals how to succeed in this industry.
