The Peninsula Club, perched on the beautiful shores of Lake Norman just north of Charlotte, is seeking a driven, enthusiastic, and hands-on Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our high-performing golf course maintenance team.

From managing pristine TifEagle Bermudagrass greens to fine-tuning our Rainbird IC irrigation system, you’ll be deeply involved in every detail that keeps this course in elite condition.

● Turf Varieties: 

○ Greens: TifEagle Bermudagrass 

○ Fairways/Tees/Roughs: Tahoma 31 

○ Native Areas: Fine Fescue 

● Irrigation: Brand new Rainbird IC System (installed 2024) 

● Equipment Fleet: John Deere hybrid fleet with Toro sprayers 

● Team Size: 19 full-time, 7 part-time staff

Your First Priorities:

● Jump into daily course operations and get to know the team 

● Take the lead on fertilizer and pesticide applications 

● Learn and help maintain our new Rainbird IC irrigation system 

● Motivate and supervise crew members to meet high performance standards

● Begin demonstrating leadership qualities and building trust within the team 

Key Responsibilities & Skills You'll Use Daily: 

● Maintain and improve all course areas: greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and native zones 

● Calibrate and apply fertilizers and chemicals responsibly and accurately

● Troubleshoot irrigation issues and assist with repairs 

● Operate a wide range of turf maintenance equipment 

● Keep detailed records and inventory of applications 

● Lead and train staff, organize schedules, and help foster a productive crew culture

● Support major projects and renovations 

● Prioritize safety, efficiency, and environmental stewardship 

Education & Experience: 

● Preferred Education: Certificate, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s degree in Turf Management or related field 

● Experience: Entry-level to 3 years ideal; candidates with 4–7 years and strong experience will be considered in lieu of a degree 

● License: NC pesticide applicator license (or ability to obtain shortly after hire) 

Compensation & Benefits: 

● Salary: $60,000 – $65,000 

● Bonus Potential: Up to 3% annually
